China, Canada, and Portugal launch their best paddlers in Duisburg
The regatta in Duisburg serves as an important test for the World Championships in August in Szeged, Hungary, and is the second World Cup after the opening one week before in Poznan, Poland. Jürgen Joachim, President of the KRV, expects participants from about 50 nations at the World Cup in Duisburg. "The federations like to use Duisburg as a location check. The Wedau Course offers particularly fair conditions. This means that the results are meaningful for further season planning".
After the reconstruction of the regatta course, the Kanu-Regatta-Verein had already returned to the international stage in 2018 with the World Cup. The course and organisation received top marks from the world federation at that time. Simon Toulson, General Secretary of the ICF, spoke of a "premium competition venue".
