The European Canoe Championships are cancelled in June due to the risks caused by the pandemic
The German Canoe Federation (DKV) has cancelled, together with the Duisburg Canoe Club, the European Championships scheduled for early June. DKV President Thomas Konietzko informed the presidents of the European Canoe Association, Albert Woods, of this decision over the weekend. The background was a communication from the corona crisis staff of the city of Duisburg. It states that: “Such an event is unlikely to be approvable even in June.”

65 nations start from 31 May to 2 June at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Duisburg
DUISBURG (23.5.2019). The world of canoeing as a guest in Duisburg: From 31 May to 2 June, the world's best canoeists collect points and medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup on the renowned Wedau course in Duisburg's Sportpark. On Saturday and Sunday a total of 27 final races are scheduled from 11:30 a.m. onwards. The World Cup includes all Olympic tracks. Admission is free on all three competition days.

DUISBURG (17.4.2019). Get to know top canoeists? This is possible at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup from 31 May to 2 June on the Wedau-Course in the Sportpark Duisburg. The hosting Kanu-Regatta-Verein is looking forward to reinforcements for its helper team. Jürgen Joachim, President of the Kanu-Regatta-Verein, says: "There are still some tasks that we would like to entrust to reliable volunteers".

Premiere in Duisburg: North Korea has entered for the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup
DUISBURG (17.4.2019). The ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Duisburg hopes for a premiere. And this for the second time. North Korea has entered for the regatta on the Wedau-Course in Duisburg. At the races from 31 May to 2 June three athletes want to start. They will be accompanied by a trainer and two officials.

Positive decision of the ICF Board of Directors on Friday in Beijing
DUISBURG (15.3.2019). Duisburg hosts the 2023 Canoe World Championships. The Canoe Regatta Club was awarded the contract by the Board of Directors of the World Federation ICF on Friday in Beijing. Duisburg has prevailed with its regatta course against Montemor in Portugal, the Bulgarian Plovdiv, Moscow and Poznan. Ten years after the 2013 World Championship, the city is once again furnishing "its living room" for the title fights of the world's best paddlers. There is no exact date yet. What is certain is that the Wedau gold medal will be awarded in the summer of 2023.

Duisburg competes against six applicants in race for 2023 Canoe World Championship
DUISBURG (15.2.2019). Duisburg competes for the Canoe World Championships 2023. The Kanu-Regatta Verein presents itself on March 15th in Beijing, when the world federation awards the title competitions. Six more cities will compete for the World Championships in the pre-Olympic year. Together with Duisburg, Montemor in Portugal, the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, Rotterdam, Moscow, Poznan and Shanghai will compete for the event.

First entries for the ICF Sprint World Cup from May 31 to June 2 have already been received.
China, Canada, and Portugal launch their best paddlers in Duisburg
DUISBURG (07.01.2019). The Duisburger Kanu-Regatta-Verein had not sent the invitation to the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup into the world yet, there already the first promises arrived. China, Canada and Portugal will start from 31 May to 2 June with their best paddlers on the Wedau track. The German Canoeing Federation will compete with all its top athletes for medals and World Cup points at the home game. Of course, the DKV team does not need its own invitation as host.

DUISBURG (27.5.2018). Duisburg successfully returns to the world stage of canoeing. The team of the organizing Kanu-Regatta-Vereins, led by President Jürgen Joachim, received praise for the organization of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup 2018 from Friday to Sunday on the Wedau-Course in Duisburg's Sportpark. Thomas Konietzko, President of the German Canoe Federation and Vice President of the World Federation ICF spoke of a "perfect regatta".

The 2021 European Canoe Championships are coming to Duisburg
DUISBURG (15.03.2018). The European Championships 2021 in canoe racing will be held on the Wedau-Course in Duisburg. This was announced by the German Canoe Federation. During its meeting in Madrid, the board of the European Canoe Federation unanimously awarded the prize to the German Canoe Federation, which had applied to host the event in Duisburg. Germany won the vote against Russia, which had started with the course in Moscow. The fight of the Para canoeists for titles and medals is also integrated into the European Championships.
